Claussen Weires is a boutique litigation law firm focused on strategic business issues, value and service. Mr. Claussen and Mr. Weires have worked at top national and regional firms, assisting Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurs, and individuals with their litigation, employment, insurance and general business issues both in Florida and across the United States.


Born and raised in South Florida, Jon Claussen has practiced law for more than a decade in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties with an emphasis on litigation for both small boutique litigation firms and large national firms. He has experience on both sides of a case and has represented companies and entrepreneurs large and small. Mr. Claussen is acutely aware of the business decision involved in bringing and defending litigation matters and seeks to counsel his clients toward a strategic resolution in each case.
As a walk-on football athlete at Wake Forest University, Mr. Claussen understands what it means to work hard to achieve the ultimate goal. He brings his competitive spirit and passion for winning results to each client’s case.
Mr. Claussen has earned the peer generated AV Preeminent rating© from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for ethical standards and legal ability. Florida Super Lawyers has selected Mr. Claussen as a “Rising Star” from 2009-2011 and 2014 through 2017 and as a Super Lawyer from 2018 through 2021 in the area of commercial litigation. He was selected as a top 40 under 40 honoree by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of South Florida. Mr. Claussen is active in his local community, serving on the boards of trustees for several historical societies and other civic organizations. He is proficient in reading, writing and speaking Spanish, having spent time in Spain working for the NFL Europe.

Mr. Weires has served as lead trial counsel in numerous multi-million dollar cases for Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies handling all aspects of commercial conflicts, contract disputes, and fraud claims.
Mr. Weires also represents smaller businesses, homeowners/condominium associations and individuals with business disputes, real property/construction litigation, and significant personal injury and medical malpractice claims.
Mr. Weires previously led the litigation practice group for an AmLaw 200 law firm (an index of the largest 200 law firms in the United states) and had management responsibility for approximately 80 litigation attorneys.
Mr. Weires has significant class action experience, having participated in more than 40 class actions throughout the country.
Mr. Weires has served as counsel for some of the largest media companies, including AT&T Broadband and Internet Services, LLC, Comcast Cable communications, Inc., Jones Intercable, Adelphia Communications, and Media One, successfully defending the companies against claims challenging late fee policies and other billing procedures.
Mr. Weires successfully defended St. Gobain, the world's second largest manufacturer of building materials, in a Florida statewide consumer class action which alleged deceptive product labeling and more than $10 million in damages.
Mr. Weires successfully defended the nation's largest Toyota distributor in a five-week jury trial involving tortious interference claims which sought $60 million in damages.
Mr. Weires is a Florida-licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant - currently inactive) - a distinction which qualifies Mr. Weires to address both the legal and financial ramifications of business disputes as well as work together with accounting experts on issues involving sophisticated damages calculations and lost profits modeling.
